Basic Phlebotomy: Including Butterflies

Our Basic Phlebotomy course is the foundational training for care home staff who need to acquire essential skills in phlebotomy. This two-day course covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of blood collection, with a focus on using butterfly needles for challenging blood draws.

- Compliance with CHS132 Standards: The course meets the competencies set out in the National Occupational Standard for Phlebotomy, ensuring high-quality training.
Pediatric Phlebotomy Training

Our Pediatric Phlebotomy course is tailored for care home staff who need to perform blood draws on younger residents, including children. This course focuses on the techniques required to ensure minimal stress and discomfort for younger patients.

Point of Care (POC) Testing

Our Point of Care Testing course is designed for care home staff who need to perform capillary blood sampling for immediate diagnostic analysis. This one-day course covers the techniques and best practices for accurate and efficient POC testing.

Phlebotomy Training Services (PTS) was founded in July 2007 by Alison Purkiss (Cert Ed). Alison is a phlebotomist of over 15 years experience who has worked in hospitals and GP practices across the NHS. Alison is an expert in venepuncture and cannulation, and is also a trained teacher. Alison earned her Certificate in Education in September 1995.
