Basic Phlebotomy Toolkit Course

Accredited with: The 'OCNNER' at Level 2

This two day course is accredited by the OCNNER, and is one of the only educationally accredited phlebotomy courses in the UK. It teaches students all of the basic skills required to start working as a phlebotomist in the UK. It covers all of the competencies set out in the CHS132, the National Occupational Standard for Phlebotomy, written by Skills For Health.

This course will be delivered by an experienced phlebotomy teacher. Most of our teachers have over 10 years experience as a phlebotomist working with a variety of patients within the NHS and the private healthcare sector.

All of our course tutors are also trained teachers, and either hold, or are working towards their Certificate in Education. Our tutors are experts at passing on their skills to you quickly and clearly.

Am I Suitable To Attend This Course?

This course is suitable for complete beginners, people looking to refresh their skills, healthcare professionals wishing to learn phlebotomy, students, and foreign medical professionals wishing to gain UK certification.

We deliver our training to a real variety of clients, and everybody is welcome. Candidates require no previous experience in venepuncture or healthcare. Our basic phlebotomy toolkit course will give you the confidence, knowledge, skills, and certification that will enable you to start working as a phlebotomist as soon as you like, regardless of your level of knowledge before the course.

What Will The Course Cover?

The course has a duration of 16 hours, and is conducted over two full days between 9:00am - 5:30pm. The course includes:

  • Anatomy & physiology of the arm
  • How to find a suitable site for venepuncture
  • Correct application of the tourniquet
  • Health & safety and infection control
  • Working in a clinical environment
  • Labelling samples
  • Bottles required & order of draw
  • The importance of correct identification of patients
  • How to take blood (using an artificial arm)
  • Final Examination & assignments

When And Where Will You Be Running This Course?

How Much Is This Training?

The course fee for this course is £325 including VAT. This covers all of your direct costs, and there are no hidden charges for equipment, certification etc.

How Can I Book A Place On One Of Your Public Courses?

We accept a maximum of 10 candidates per course, and our places are sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. To book your place on one of our courses, you can use one of the following methods:

  • Download one of our application forms and send it to our office address with a cheque for the full course fee.
